Santa Ynez Valley Information

Located a short 35 miles north of Santa Barbara and 125 miles north of Los Angeles, the Valley is easily accessible from the north and south from the U.S. 101 as well as by California Scenic Route 154 through the San Marcos Pass from Santa Barbara.
For car free travel, Amtrak trains feature connecting bus service to Solvang (www.amtrak.com); and private aircraft land at Santa Ynez Airport (IZA).

AIRPORT
The Santa Ynez Valley offers the Santa Ynez Airport, which features a 2,800 foot hard surface, and a lighted runway with extensive hanger facilities for general aviation. Santa Ynez Valley Areas

Solvang - is one of the state\'s leading tourist destinations. Known as the Danish Capital of America, this quaint Danish Village features one of a kind shops, elegant hotels, golfing, restaurants, bakeries, wine tasting rooms, and professional theater. It is a popular stop for traditional bakeries featuring Danish pastries, breads and foods.

Santa Ynez - founded in 1882 and surrounded by famous vineyards and even more famous ranches, Santa Ynez neighbors the Santa Ynez Indian reservation. The town features historic Western buildings and museums. A historic saloon serves real cowboys.

Los Olivos - A slice of upscale Americana. Some of the finest art galleries in California fill this quaint Victorian village. Los Olivos also offers wine tasting with outstanding dining at several well-known local restaurants. It holds a world class inn and has a flag pole right in the center of town.

Ballard - Ballard is the Valley\'s oldest community and site of the historic two room Little Red Schoolhouse. An area of small apple ranches and charming bed and breakfasts, Ballard retains all its own charm.

Buellton - Conveniently located off the 101, this crossroads ranching community is adding modern shopping, restaurants, and is the home of world famous Pea Soup Andersen\'s hotel and restaurant. Buellton has "Everything for the Traveler."

Los Alamos - A 20 minute drive north on the 101 past scenic vineyards will take you to this small community which features several antique stores, restaurants, and a completely restored Western hotel.

Cachuma Lake Fishing: Fishing from shore or a boat is open all year (except Christmas Day) with a valid fishing license. The lake supports large populations of large mouth and small mouth bass, crappie, bluegill, red-ear sunfish and channel catfish and is stocked through the winter with rainbow trout. Tuesdays: 4 to 5:30 p.m. Old Mission Santa Ines Catholic Boys and Girls Club. St. Francis Boys Club and St. Agnes Girls Club will be held every Wednesday afternoon for children in 4th and 5th grades who have received Holy Communion. Club members will learn more about the Catholic Faith while taking part in service projects and special outings. They will make arts and crafts to take to the elderly in the local rest homes, help to feed and clothe the poor and take part in sports and recreation along with Bible study.
